6th Grade Blog experts

February 8th, 2006

A great big thank you to all of my 6th graders who are very quick at offering me their assistance in blogging.

Xiang,
You’ve impressed me a great deal inside and ouside of class. You are always ready to tackle challenges that comes your way. You have a great outlook for the future. Continue the positive attitude.

Claire & Steve,
Grammar is part of the curriculum that we cannot ignore. It isn’t exciting, but is of great importance to communicate your ideas; it is someting that we use daily. Some students understand it faster than others, & for ESL students this is a foundation they need to build on. Steve, you are right on the spot when you said you need it for the future (college). Prestigious colleges expect high scores from your SAT (verbal & math) test. Some universities determine your acceptance in college based on your SAT test result.

Brian & Clarissa,
When I’m ready to use the Quizzler, I will start out with vocabulary. It will be easy if you prepare and study for it. I know you always do, so don’t worry!

Jennifer, Fawn, & Jessica,
Thank you so much for your help. I know I can count on you to guide me along the way in this new world of blogging. I am actually starting to get excited about it & gain a little confidence. I feel like I’m taking baby steps & the 6th graders are there to cheer me on. What a really nice feeling!

Handheld workshop

January 31st, 2006

Today, I learned how to blog. The information seems overwhelming. I still feel quite nervous about it, but I must admit it is interesting. Rolly taught us how to create our own blogs, post an entry, copy and paste pictures and or text, and also create a link. We are required to do some of the assigments Rolly posted in SJSCoolSchool.com in order to earn our graduate credit for this class.

We browsed Tony Vincent’s website www.learninginhand.com. Here, I read some articles on using the Handhelds, browsed at pictures, and view some sample lesson plans. This site is helpful as a source of information to some of our class assignments.

Right now I’m already interested in making a quiz from the quizler program, and not so sure what else. Need to browse the site again.

My first blog

I wonder what this blog can do and how can it really help me and my students with our daily lessons. I’m afraid this might be too complicated and hard to control. I’m very concerned about student and teacher privacy issue.
